Description
This is a PRIVATE Kids Winter Tour of Yellowstone National Park designed specifically for families staying in Big Sky with guaranteed Bear, Wolf, and Otter sightings. Plus family friendly Sledding! Your tour will be guided by a local wildlife biologist. On this tour through Yellowstones Northwest Territory we will transport ourselves into a winter wonderland where we will have a good opportunity to see Moose, Bison or Buffalo, Big Horn Sheep, and various k-9 species along the way. We will then view Grizzly Bears, Wolves, cutthroat trout, and playful Otters at the Grizzly Bear and wolf Discovery Center. Since the grizzly bears are being fed by the sanctuary they are not hibernating and are viewable year round. The Discovery Center is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary that works in collaboration with Yellowstone National Park that has rescued animals from the wild that would not have survived on its own and animals that have been raised in captivity! For some extra fun and to get the kids moving/ rid of some energy we will also stop for about 30-45 min of family friendly sledding (sleds provided) and Hot Chocolate at really fun sledding hill maintained by the Town of West Yellowstone! Along the way back and forth to Big Sky we have several group discussions about the unique winter adaptations animals and plants must utilize to survive in an incredibly harsh winter climate. We will also discuss geysers, black and grizzly bear ecology, wolf ecology, yellowstone history, and cover many other aspects of the Yellowstone!
This is an educational family friendly tour where your kids are guaranteed to see multiple species in the wild and or in the sanctuary. This is a fun alternative activity if you want a break from skiing the slopes or an alternative activity for the non-skiers or kids in your family. We will get you back to your lodging around 2/3pm so your family will not miss out on apre ski or the late afternoon catch up by the fire place with the members of your family that went skiing! Wahoo, fun for all!
Earthquake Lake and Big Horn Sheep Experience:
• If your group has older kids or is entirely adults. We can go further and longer (add about 2 hours longer to our day) to also explore Earthquake lake and likely view Big Horn Sheep up close as well as other species. Click the ADD ON feature during the booking process. + $250
Earthquake lake was formed in 1959 when a earthquake triggered a landslide that caused a landslide which damed up the Madison river forming an entirely new lake. It is quite the sight to see! Click on the link below to learn more:
