Wildlife Viewing Guide
All of the species listed below can be seen April to Nov. It is likely we will see them on all of tours in April, May, June, and October. Due to the higher temperatures in July and August viewing bears and wolves may be challenging and limited to early in the morning. The Wildlife Viewing Guide can be used as an indicator to view each species when they are the most active.
Wolves
Year around
Early mornings and carcasses provide wolf watching opportunities. We see them all year long. Late July and August can be difficult due to summer heat
Grizzly Bears
April, May, June & October
Spring and fall provide milder temperatures which bears prefer. Late July, August, and early September can be difficult due to high summer temperatures
Bison
Seen all year round
Can be seen all year long. Often near roadways. The Bison rut mid summer is a spectacle where males can be seen fighting/ locking horns. May and April is great for bison calves
Black Bears
Late April, May, and June
Black bears are seen easiest on our tours in June when all the vegetation is greening up.
Elk
Seen year round but September’s has the best viewing experience
Hearing bull elk bugle, fighting other males, and chasing each other around is something you will not forget!
Others
Moose are best seen in spring, fall, and winter. River Otters in the winter. Bighorn Sheep, Red foxes, and coyotes commonly seen all year.

If your group still has energy by the end of the day let your guide know because we will keep touring the park until your group is ready to go home!
